Satoshi per byte (also abbreviated to sat/byte) is a unit for measuring transaction priority, defined by the transaction's fee in satoshi divided by the size of the transaction in bytes.
This unit is only used for legacy addresses. Newer addresses that use Segwit use a new unit called Satoshi per virtual byte (sat/vbyte) which is equal to the transaction's size in Weight units divided by 4. Weight units are calculated by taking the transaction size (without the witness) times 3, added to the transaction size including witness.
